My name is Dax Brown and I am the Internal Operations Auditing Manager within the Accounting Department. I manage two very experienced, skilled teams: Financial Review and Quotes & Payments. The Financial Review Team handles court refunds, reconciliations, and invoice audits from our clients. The Quotes & Payments Team handles reinstatement/payoff requests, fees and costs quotes, and close/hold/proceed requests. Despite being under the Accounting umbrella, we tend to have a lot of overlap and collaboration with the operations teams and attorneys.
I started at MDK in 2010 an intern in the Hearings Department managed by Krystle Cunningham. I stayed in this position until graduating in 2011 and became Assistant Manager of the Attorney Support Staff in 2013. Hoping to further my career development in management, I accepted the Internal Audit Manager position in 2017. Coming to the Accounting Department with no formal accounting background was slightly intimidating, but my legal background was very helpful with the tasks my team handles. I believe I have helped my team understand more nuanced legal processes over the years while they have certainly increased my knowledge of accounting.
I originally came to MDK to gain legal experience and potentially go to law school, but instead I found passion in leadership. I definitely feel that my path from intern to manager was uncommon and I am grateful that MDK encourages movement within the firm. I thoroughly enjoy helping my teammates grow and develop their careers. I also enjoy collaborating with the various departments at MDK to solve complex problems and satisfy client directives. I’m fortunate to work for such an excellent company that embraces change and encourages innovation.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife Hannah, and our two pups, Frank and Olive. We love to travel, go to concerts, and explore the many activities Columbus has to offer. I also enjoy playing guitar, cooking, and doing yardwork.
